Classic Chocolate Fudge

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups (18 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup (4 tablespoons) unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • Optional add-ins (nuts, marshmallows, etc.)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Pan:

  • Line an 8×8-inch (20×20 cm) square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on two sides. This will make it easier to lift the fudge out later.

2. Melt Chocolate and Butter:

  • In a heavy-bottomed saucepan over low heat, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and unsalted butter. Stir until they are fully melted and well combined.

3. Add Sweetened Condensed Milk:

  • Pour the sweetened condensed milk into the chocolate mixture and stir continuously until it’s fully incorporated. Continue to cook and stir until the mixture is smooth and begins to thicken, which will take a few minutes.

4. Add Vanilla and Salt:

  • Stir in the pure vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. The salt enhances the flavor of the chocolate.

5. Optional Add-Ins:

  • If you want to add nuts, marshmallows, or any other mix-ins, fold them into the fudge mixture at this point.

6. Transfer to Pan:

  • Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

7. Chill:

  • Refrigerate the fudge for at least 2-3 hours, or until it’s firm and set. You can also leave it in the fridge overnight.

8. Cut into Squares:

  • Once the fudge has completely set, use the parchment paper overhang to lift it out of the pan. Place it on a cutting board.

9. Slice into Pieces:

  • Use a sharp knife to slice the fudge into small squares or rectangles. You can make them as large or small as you like.

10. Serve and Enjoy:

  • Your homemade chocolate fudge is ready to be served. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Enjoy your delicious, creamy chocolate fudge! You can customize it by adding your favorite nuts or other mix-ins, making it a perfect treat for special occasions or as a gift for friends and family.
