Ingredients:
- 1 shot of espresso (approximately 1 ounce or 30 ml)
- 1/3 cup (80 ml) of steamed milk
- 1/3 cup (80 ml) of milk foam
- Freshly brewed espresso beans
- Sugar (optional, to taste)
Equipment:
- Espresso machine
- Steam wand or frother
- Espresso cup or mug
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Espresso:
- Start by brewing a shot of espresso using your espresso machine. Make sure to use freshly ground espresso beans for the best flavor.
2. Steam the Milk:
- In a separate container, heat 1/3 cup (80 ml) of milk using the steam wand of your espresso machine or a milk frother. Keep the steam wand just beneath the surface of the milk, not allowing it to froth too much. The goal is to heat the milk to about 150-160°F (65-70°C) without creating too much foam.
3. Froth the Milk:
- After steaming the milk, froth another 1/3 cup (80 ml) of milk until you have a thick and creamy milk foam. The milk foam should be light and velvety, not overly stiff.
4. Combine the Espresso and Milk:
- Pour the shot of espresso into an espresso cup or mug.
5. Add the Steamed Milk:
- Next, pour the steamed milk over the espresso. Hold back the foam with a spoon while pouring to allow the liquid milk to flow first.
6. Add the Milk Foam:
- Spoon the milk foam on top of the cappuccino. You can use a spoon to help control the amount of foam you add.
7. Optional Sweetener:
- If you like your cappuccino sweet, you can add sugar to taste. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
8. Serve and Enjoy:
- Your cappuccino is now ready to be enjoyed. Serve it hot and savor the rich, bold taste of espresso combined with the creamy texture of steamed milk and milk foam.
Note: Cappuccinos are versatile, and you can adjust the ratio of espresso, steamed milk, and milk foam to your taste. Some people prefer a drier cappuccino with more foam, while others prefer it creamier with more milk. Experiment and customize it to your preference.
